Person under CJI investigation «How Companies of FSB Anchored in EU Ports and Countries» Oleksandr Borodin, founder or manager of business network «Ekohidrotechnika» in Russia, Cyprus and Germany, has been an agent of KGB. It is demonstrated by the card of KGB agent Borodin, found in the archive of KGB of Latvian SSR by Guna Gleizde, investigator of Latvian TV channel TV.3.

Borodin Oleksandr Viktorovych (Ukrainian transliteration) \ Borodin Aleksandr Viktorovich (date of birth – 20.05.1957) is the citizen of Ukraine and Latvia. He was born in Golubeche village of Kryzhopilsky raion of Vinnytsia oblast. After graduation from high professional school, he worked as navigator in ships of Soviet company «Baltmorput». They performed dredging works and built hydro technical buildings in ports of dozens countries around the world.

After disruption of USSR, part of fleet of «Baltmorput» was privatized by companies in Russia and Latvia. At the beginning of 1990s, mass media called Aleksandr Borodin the director of «Ekohidrotechnika LTD» (USA, Delaware). It worked in the Baltic Sea.

The Center for Journalist Investigations uncovered connection of companies from «Ekohidrotechnika» (EHT Group) with business of retired generals of Russian intelligence services, headed by former Deputy Director of FSB and head of the 5th Service of FSB Viktor Komogorov.

Guna Gleizde, investigator of broadcast «Nothing personal» of TV channel TV.3, found card of KGB agent Borodin Aleksandr Viktorovich, in the State Archive of Latvia. In 2018, it opened an access to digital documents of KGB of Latvian Soviet Socialist Republic. First, middle and surname of agent Borodin coincide with personal data of Aleksandr Borodin, investigated by the CJI.

As this KGB card demonstrates, Borodin was recruited by KGB in 1983 with nickname «Boroda» [Beard]. It indicates that he has been agent of the 4th department of KGB, created in 1981 for counter-intelligence on objects of transport and communication.

«This fact confirms observations of our expert Pavlo Lakijchuk. As he told, KGB and Soviet Main Intelligence Department routinely recruited members of crews of civilian ships to perform intelligence, counterintelligence and sabotage tasks around the world. Personnel of «Baltmorput» worked around the world. The company has been an ideal cover-up for KGB agent network», as says investigation of CJI.

Let us remind that network of companies «Ekohidrotechnika» (EHT Group) privatized dredgers and barges of Soviet company «Balmorput» at the beginning of 1990s. Its related legal entities actively worked in Russia, USA, Lithuania, Latvia, Germany, Ukraine, Panama, Cyprus and Malta. The network has connections with retired general of Russian intelligence services, headed by Viktor Komogorov, ex-Deputy Director of FSB and head of the 5th Service of FSB in 1999-2009, conducting operations abroad, including post-Soviet countries.

The family of Borodins is permanent business partner of FSB officers in Russia and abroad. 44 years old son Borodin-senior – Aleksandrs Borodins-junior with his wife Karina Borodina have owned or managed companies in Latvia, Cyprus and Russia.

For example, Borodins-junior is director of Green Line Shipping, registered in Klaipeda, Lithuania. It owns Russian LLC «Baltgeotrest». In its turn, «Baltgeotrest» founded Russian company «Baltinvestproekt», co-owned by General Komogorov and his business partner Dzamikhov.

Dredgers of Green Line Shipping performed dredging works in the water area of Klaipeda port. According to investigation of Lithuanian media «15 min», the port was obliged to give the company information about underwater communication lines and bathymetric charts of the port. Besides that, the company had an access to Klaipeda terminal of liquefied gas.
