The Center of Journalist Investigations continues its series of publications about military units for children, created by Russian authorities in occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol. <\/strong>First part of the Center\u2019s investigation<\/strong><\/a> focused on regional offices of All-Russian \u00abYoung Army\u00bb, All-Crimean projects \u00abKrympatriotcenter\u00bb, \u00abUnion of Cossack Youth of Crimea and Sevastopol\u00bb and local organizations \u00abSyvash\u00bb, \u00abKordon-Tarkhankut\u00bb and \u00abYevpatoria Landing Troops\u00bb. Unfortunately, this list is not exhaustive.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u00abMovement of the First\u00bb. Crimean office<\/strong><\/p>\n

Full name of the legal entity<\/a> is \u00abRegional Office of All-Russian Public-Governmental Movement of Children and Youth \u00abMovement of the First\u00bb of the Republic of Crimea\u00bb.<\/p>\n

\u00abMovement of the First\u00bb is the revival of Soviet organization of \u00abYoung pioneers\u00bb, sold to Putin under propagandist slogans. Putin is the head of the Supervisory Board of the Movement. According to official legend, in April 2022, Crimean teenager Diana Krasovska asked the President of the Russian Federation to launch All-Russian children\u2019s movement. Respective draft law about creation of organization has been submitted to the Russian State Duma on the 19th<\/sup> of May, on the day of the 100th<\/sup> anniversary of \u00abYoung pioneers\u00bb. Putin signed law \u00abAbout Russian Movement of Children and Youth\u00bb in July 2022. The movement has been called \u00abthe Movement of the First\u00bb. It was reported that Putin preferred Soviet style \u00abpioneers\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Russian teenagers and students are forced to join the Movement. As of the end of 2023, there were almost 5 million members of the organization. \u00abThe Movement\u00bb enjoys generous governmental financing. Its budget is around 19 billion Rubles.<\/p>\n

Crimea office of the Movement has over 14 thousand members and 580 branches in educational institutions, according to its official statistics. Organization is registered in Simferopol, at Roza Luxemburg Street, 15 {it is building of the Simferopol Railway School).<\/p>\n

Movement imposes Russian patriotism on children in occupied Ukrainian Crimea. Any events are conducted under super-patriotic slogans, Russian symbols and hatred towards Ukraine. Teenagers are given Russian passports of \u00abthe Movement of the First\u00bb. This ceremony is coupled with public watching of Putin\u2019s speeches.<\/p>\n

\u00abServing Motherland\u00bb is one of key spheres of activity of the Movement. Children are taught that protection of Russia is their \u00absacred obligation\u00bb. Movement holds meetings with heroes of \u00abspecial military operation\u00bb, conducts concerts for them, involves children into collecting assistance for the Russian Armed Forces, making camouflage nets and trench candles.<\/p>\n

Movement organizes military games with imitation of real war: \u00abZarnychka\u00bb \u2013 for pupils, \u00abZarnytsia\u00bb and \u00abMirror of history\u00bb \u2013 for teenagers. Children are trained to shoot and operate drones.<\/p>\n

In September 2023, Canada introduced sanctions against \u00abMovement of the First\u00bb for their involvement into deportation of Ukrainian children into Russia and dissemination of fakes and propaganda.<\/p>\n

In February 2024, Movement and its head Grigorii Gurov were subjected to EU sanctions for the elimination of identity of Ukrainian children and \u00abmilitary patriotic\u00bb activity in occupied Crimea and on territories of Eastern and Southern Ukraine recently occupied by the Russian Federation. Local offices of the Movement were opened on those territories in 2023.<\/p>\n

Russian citizen Arlamenkova Yekaterina Yurjevna<\/strong> is the head of Crimean office of the \u00abMovement of the First\u00bb. In 2015, she moved from Sankt Petersburg to Crimea. Before 2023, Arlamenkova has worked as the manager of \u00abRussian movement of children and youth\u00bb, predecessor of the \u00abMovement of the First\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Sevastopol office of the \u00abMovement of the First\u00bb<\/a> (taxpayer\u2019s number 9200015025) conducts various patriotic events, with Russian occupation authorities and participants of the \u00abspecial military operation\u00bb; involves children into All-Russian military patriotic games \u00abZarnytsia\u00bb; conducts \u00ablessons of courage\u00bb and \u00abmemory\u00bb and promotes all activities within \u00abServing Motherland\u00bb.<\/p>\n

35 years old Ukrainian citizen Molchanova Hanna Stanislavivna<\/strong> is the head of Sevastopol office of the \u00abMovement of the First\u00bb. She has been pedagogue-organizer and sports trainer of school # 45 and then methodologist of the Palace of children\u2019s and youth creativity of Sevastopol. She graduated from Ukranian universities before the Russian annexation of Crimea and \u2013 Slovyansk State Pedagogical University and Cherkasy National University named after Khmelnytsky.<\/p>\n

In 2021, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine imposed sanctions on Molchanova for her work in Russian \u00abelectoral commission\u00bb of Leninsky district of Sevastopol during illegal elections (she has been deputy head of the commission with decisive vote).<\/p>\n

\u00abYoung Guard of United Russia\u00bb, offices in Crimea and Sevastopol <\/strong><\/p>\n

Youth public organization of Russian political party \u00abUnited Russia\u00bb (kind of \u00abkomsomol\u00bb under USSR \u2013 youth organization of the Communist Party) was founded in 2005. Youth \u00abwing\u00bb of Putin\u2019s political party supplies participants for political events; mobilizes voters in favor of \u00abapproved\u00bb candidates etc. Its members often pretend to be civic activists and volunteers.<\/p>\n

After Russian full scale invasion into Ukraine, \u00abYoung Guard of United Russia\u00bb has actively participated in Putin\u2019s military patriotic events in Russia and on occupied territories of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

First office of \u00abYoung Guard\u00bb<\/a> was set up in Crimea in February 2023. Its activity focuses on support of the Russian aggression against Ukraine. Organization conducts military patriotic training for school children, shooting training, patriotic competitions and events like \u00abReady to serve Motherland\u00bb, \u00abGeorge ribbon\u00bb [military symbol of Putin\u2019s Russia], \u00abMembers of Young Guard\u00bb. Its members collect assistance for the Russian Armed Forces, write letters to heroes of the \u00abspecial military operation\u00bb.<\/p>\n

27 years old Morenets Aryna Olegivna<\/strong> has headed Crimean office of \u00abYoung Guard\u00bb since February 2023. She was born in Crimea. She has been an assistant of Rector on youth policy and patriotic education of so-called \u00abCrimean University of Culture, Arts and Tourism\u00bb. She is member of political party \u00abUnited Russia\u00bb. in 2019, she ran for the \u00abState Council of Crimea\u00bb<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Rudenko Oleksandr Yevgeniyovych<\/strong> has headed Sevastopol office of \u00abYoung Guard\u00bb since 2021. He is resident of Sevastopol and member of political party \u00abUnited Russia\u00bb. He sold fishing rods before going into politics. He also organizes performances of local circus.<\/p>\n

Military patriotic club \u00abBattalion Outpost\u00bb, Simferopol<\/strong><\/p>\n

The club was set up in 2018 under local office of \u00abRussian Union of War Veterans\u00bb. \u00abBattalion Outpost\u00bb conducts for children and youth military training, \u00ablessons of courage\u00bb, meetings with participants of Soviet invasion into Afghanistan, Cossacks and participants of \u00abspecial military operation\u00bb. It holds training lessons on handling of weapons and tactical medical aid and military competitions. Children should assemble Kalashnikov rifle, demonstrate their knowledge of Russian military history and commanders, shoulder straps and military titles, Russian troops and military equipment.<\/p>\n

Members of \u00abBattalion\u00bb are actively involved into providing assistance to Russian soldiers: children make camouflage nets and write letters to participants of \u00abspecial military operation\u00bb. They are also involved into production of Russian propagandist TV channel \u00abKrym24\u00bb, patriotic videos about \u00abRussian Spring\u00bb etc.<\/p>\n

23 years old Alina Nikishaeva<\/strong> has been appointed as the head of \u00abBattalion Outpost\u00bb. She is resident of Simferopol, member of party \u00abUnited Russia\u00bb and \u00abyouth parliament of Crimea\u00bb.<\/p>\n

In 2017, she joined \u00abYoung Army\u00bb and later \u2013 the Center of special combat training \u00abVolk\u00bb [Wolf]. She completed trainings on hand-to-hand and knife combat, handling of rifles, tactical medical aid and combat tactics.<\/p>\n

In 2023, she received certificate of an assistant of the commander of the 147th<\/sup> Simferopol artillery regiment of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (military unit # 73966, located in the Russian city of Kalininets, Moscow region).<\/p>\n

The club was set up in 2015 on the basis of secondary school of Kukushkyne village of Rozdolne district. Its trainees participate in the events of \u00abYoung Army\u00bb and trainings on hand-to-hand combat, shooting etc. The Club conducts military patriotic competitions and tournaments.<\/p>\n

70 years old retired Captain Motyakov Yevgenii Sergeevich<\/strong> is the head of club \u00abBagyra\u00bb. He was born in the Russian city of Ryazan. He is the former marine. He participated in the rescue operation at Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant.<\/p>\n

Motyakov also manages<\/a> \u00abCenter for military patriotic training of young marines \u00abSaturn\u00bb, set up in Kukushkyne in 2020. \u00abSaturn\u00bb unites Crimean clubs of \u00abyoung marines\u00bb. Co-founders of \u00abSaturn\u00bb are Lubov Motyakova<\/strong> (perhaps, his wife) and Yuri Mozolevsky<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Motyakov keeps teaching in Yevpatoria Industrial Schhol. In 2021, he founded military patriotic club \u00abSparta\u00bb there.<\/p>\n

63 years old Yuri Ivanovich Mozolevsky<\/strong><\/a> is co-manager of club \u00abBagyra\u00bb. He was born in\u00a0 the Russian city of Murmansk. He is the former officer of criminal investigation of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. He is also reserve Colonel, president of Crimean Federation of hand-to-hand combat, \u00abhead\u00bb of occupation council of Kukushkyne and \u00abmember of Rozdolne district council<\/a>\u00bb from political party \u00abUnited Russia\u00bb.<\/p>\n

In 2014, Mozolevsky actively contributed to the Russian occupation of Crimea as member of illegal military unit \u00abSelf-Defense of Crimea\u00bb. He was awarded medal \u00abFor protection of Crimea\u00bb by Russian \u00abHead of Crimea\u00bb Aksyonov.<\/p>\n

Military patriotic club \u00abPatriot\u00bb, Yevpatoria<\/strong><\/p>\n

Club \u00abPatriot\u00bb<\/a> was founded in 2016. The club offers the following training for children: \u00abcourse of young soldier\u00bb; running long distances (15-18 km); \u00abmaking camp, switching on antenna, destroying camp of enemy and finding pilot\u00bb. The club conducts tactical games and trains handling of weapons and hand-to-hand combat.<\/p>\n

\u00abWe train children to enter military schools, schools of Russian ministries of internal affairs and emergency situations. They join \u00abYoung Army\u00bb, as informs an account of \u00abPatriot\u00bb in social media.<\/p>\n

Children are awarded for their participation in military training. They salute the commander and say \u00abI serve Russia!\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Club \u00abPatriot\u00bb has been headed by Pikiner Dmytro Volodymyrovych<\/strong>, teacher of sports in Yevpatoria school # 7. Before 2017, he has been taxi driver. He fought in the \u00abspecial military operation\u00bb as contracted soldier in 2022. Today he visits schools and tells children about his \u00abheroic actions\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Pikiner sent letter<\/a> to Aksyonov and asked money for his participation in the war against Ukraine. In May 2023, Pikiner received \u00abcertificate of war veteran\u00bb. He complained in social media that he spent almost one year to get it.<\/p>\n

Vladyslav Pikiner<\/strong>, son of Dmytro, has also participated in military training of Yevpatoria children. With help of his friends, he organized \u00abPatriotic marathon \u00abZaryad\u00bb. The Russian Federal Agency for Youth Affairs awarded him a grant \u00abto increase knowledge of 14-20 years youth about extremism and terrorism\u00bb and \u00abto involve teenagers into military patriotic training\u00bb. Participants of \u00abZaryad\u00bb will give lectures in educational institutions, conduct cyber-sports tournament, sports marathon and laser-tag game from April till June 2024.<\/p>\n

The club was founded in 2017. Recruitment starts from five years old children<\/strong>. The club organizes the following training and events: military and universal hand-to-hand combat, military training, shooting competitions, military patriotic games (shooting, throwing grenades, assembling Kalashnikov, semaphore code, overcoming obstacles, medical aid etc). Trainees of \u00abPobeda\u00bb participate in the initial military training and city \u00abpatriotic events\u00bb.<\/p>\n

In 2023, Putin\u2019s Fund of presidential grants allocated half a million Rubles to the club for the project<\/a> \u00abStrengthening physical force and patriotic spirit of school children of Sevastopol \u00abFuture defender of Motherland\u00bb. The project was aimed at increasing number of trainees, conducting \u00ablessons of courage\u00bb, patriotic tours, shooting tournaments and military training.<\/p>\n

46 years old resident of Sevastopol Igor Volodymyrovych Novykov<\/strong> is the head of club \u00abPobeda\u00bb. Former paratrooper, he is the president of Federation of military hand-to-hand combat of Sevastopol.<\/p>\n

In accordance with database of Ukrainian Center \u00abMyrotvorets\u00bb [Peacekeeper], Novykov<\/a> (call sign \u00abBuga\u00bb) participated in the Russian war against Ukraine as member of Private Military Company \u00abWagner\u00bb.<\/p>\n

According to experts\u2019 opinion, teenagers who were brainwashed by Russian propaganda and trained in military units, are more likely to participate in the Russian war against Ukraine.<\/p>\n

Russian military machine for children in occupied Crimea has already brought about negative outcomes: trainees of numerous \u00abclubs\u00bb and \u00abcenter\u00bb join Russian Armed Forces. For example, Sevastopol office of \u00abYoung Guard of United Russia\u00bb promotes its member Semen Yushkov who concluded military contract despite his age\u2026<\/p>\n

The Center of Journalist Investigations keeps collecting information about children\u2019s military units in occupied Crimea and those who militarize children and make them die for the glory of Putin\u2019s Russia.<\/p>\n
