Британський ракетний есмінець увійшов до акваторії Чорного моря

HMS Duncan, the Royal Navy’s sixth and final Type 45 Destroyer, sailed from Scotstoun to conduct her successful second set of Contractor Sea Trials. The last of the Navy’s advanced anti-air warfare Destroyers spent the best part of three weeks patrolling the Clyde Areas, trialling her state of the art combat systems suite and communications equipment. A major part of the trials involved rigorous testing of the Ship’s Long Range Radar and her Sampson Multi Function Radar, two key features of the Type 45 which enable her to detect both surface and air contacts at a substantial range. Duncan, assisted by mostly fine autumn Scottish weather, demonstrated her wide range of capabilities as she breezed through the vast number of trials thrown at her. This second period follows a successful initial set of sea trials in September, which focused on the fine tuning of her Integrated Electrical Propulsion system. Commander Phil Game Royal Navy, Duncan’s Senior Naval Officer, said of their latest achievement, “The Ship has again demonstrated its outstanding capability, this time from a combat systems perspective. Whilst we remain conscious of the work ahead before the Ship is finally accepted by the Royal Navy, I am extremely confident that Duncan will be delivered to the highest possible specification for which we and the Shipbuilder can be very proud.” Duncan will remain alongside in Scotstoun until the Spring 2013 before heading to Portsmouth to join her 5 sister ships as she is officially handed over from BAE Systems to the Royal Navy.

30 січня ракетний есмінець Королівського ВМФ Великобританії HMS Duncan, оснащений ракетами Tomahawk, увійшов до акваторії Чорного моря.

Про це повідомляє Об’єднане військово-морське командування НАТО в Twitter, передає Центр журналістських розслідувань.

Відзначається, що британський есмінець рухається в північному напрямку вздовж західного узбережжя Чорного моря. Його супроводжує турецький фрегат Gaziantep.

Раніше Британія анонсувала, що вперше з часів холодної війни направить в акваторію Чорного моря есмінець HMS Diamond.

Есмінець, обладнаний новітніми зенітними ракетами, попрямує до берегів України. На його борту будуть знаходитися до 60 морських піхотинців.

HMS Diamond буде вести цільову групу НАТО і допомагати захищати 650 британських військовослужбовців, які беруть участь в «таємних навчаннях» в Україні.
